This is the first thread in an upcoming series of threads concerning graphics and animations. The boot splash is the still picture that shows up before the boot animation when your phone is first booting up. If you want to have your own custom picture simply post the picture or your request and I will try to make it for you.
(Attached are some examples of a custom splash screen created per someone's request. They are lower resolution jpegs. The image looks much better on your phone. There are a lot of different ones that I could post but you get the idea.) (The sheep was a joke on someone.)

Most pictures are provided by the person making the request. The GoW picture was posted by someone but it was wide and huge. To keep the entire picture in frame and proportional I had to reduce the scale of it considerably. Since there was a lot of empty space I added the colors on the top and bottom and I also added the text, which is not bad at all for on the fly. (Since it was not my request I was not going to kill myself trying to do something different.) If you find me a picture that is taller in size it will be easier to work with. The screen size for a boot splash is 480x800, so no pictures that are like 3000x1200 or else you run into the same problem of shrinking it too much to fit the phone's screen.

Also remember that these jpegs that are posted to show some splashes are low quality. They don't let you post higher resolution pictures here. They actually look better on your phone. The better quality the picture, the better it will look in real life. There are only two splashes that I actually created from scratch posted here, and that is Texas Longhorns and StarDroid. I usually just make the picture that was given into a splash file and only modify what I have to to make it fit and work. Sometimes I add wording. I have done about a hundred so far but I only posted a few recent ones that I could find easily. Don't worry, I always make a file that is flashed on your phone.

I did some quick searching and the pictures I saw for GoW were really wide wallpapers. Scaling them down will not work. That is the problem with the one posted above. Now what could be done is cutting out a section of the picture instead of using the entire scene. Then I can use any size and just cut what you want in the scene. Unfortunately the upright position for the phone screen is very narrow, unless you want to hold your phone sideways each time it boots. ;-)
