I would go to settings and sync settings. when in there click on the google email address that you have syncing you will see all the google apps that you are syncing to your device. unsync all but 1...

keep the file zipped and place it on the root of your sd card
turn device off and boot into recovery
in recovery choose flash file...

sounds like you have some built up cache stored on your phone... when you flashed over are you sure that you wiped the cache and dalvik cache? if not i would try to do that and than reboot and see if...

i can almost guarantee you that it isn't bricked. you said the phone wont turn on, you sure the battery didnt die? also have you tried to take the battery out for 5 seconds and than place it back in?...
