to anyone having battery issues with v3.0 - make SURE you have recalibrated your battery (RoyalGinger FAQ link here , scroll down to battery calibration section) before you write this version off or post that the battery life sucks, etc.
also, @gitm (former tester for Team Royal) made a post on our former site recently about how he was only getting 10 hrs of battery life on v3.0 compared to 24-36+ hours on v2.x and had other minor misc. issues .... and then he did a full fastboot wipe and reinstalled v3.0 cleanly and has had none of the same issues and that it completely ironed out his battery performance issues he was having.
i can't guarantee this will work 100% of the time for everyone but it's worth a shot. there should be nothing inherently 'wrong' with this build in terms of battery life or any other major function that i'm aware of. i will have an update to the kernel (and possibly the ROM as well) coming out very soon that should boost battery performance by at least 20%-30% (i'm guessing) ..
stay tuned and please post the results of any battery calibration attempts or fastboot wipe / reflash efforts so that you may help anyone else who might be having the same issues you are.
* to perform a fastboot full wipe (a bit more thorough than the conventional recovery method of wiping data and both caches):
CAUTION : i personally have gotten two different 'error: can't mount cache' soft 'B' words and both were sometime very shortly or immediately following a fastboot wipe such as this. i recovered from both of these errors both times but for those of you that are paranoid about that sort of thing or followed the 'do you have the bad chip' or w/e threads that are floating around and you think your device might be prone to this sort of thing - you may want to stay away from it. a full and complete battery calibration should do the trick if all you're having is a major battery performance dropoff vs. a previous version of the ROM. however, i know plenty of people that perform these fastboot wipes all the time on these devices without incident. soooo ... as always, take RESPONSIBILITY for your own decisions and be informed about performing major 'root' type functions on your devices!
using ADB type the following commands:
(after it finishes rebooting into the bootloader - then..)Code:adb reboot bootloader
... now you can reboot into recovery and re-flash the ROMCode:fastboot erase system -w

Been a user of RG 2.1 for a while, and decided to install the newest 3.0. But battery life hasn't been as good as the previous version.
I've done everything possible (settings setup, battery calibration, fastboot full wipe and re-flash), and still cannot get the battery life I used to get.
Back with 2.1, I could use the phone to listen to my mp3's from 8am to 5pm, and still have 40-30% of battery life left. Now I can barely get 4-5 hours.
Another thing I noticed, whenever I reboot the phone the battery life will drop considerably. For example, I would reboot at 40% battery life, and it would be at 20% after it gets to the homescreen. Usually rebooting would take 1-2% of the battery, but a 20% drop is crazy. Is this a problem with the battery? And will a replacement fix this?
Regardless of the above issues, thanks Team Royal for an awesome ROM.
Is anyone else having issues with it freezing up when you use the camera app?
I can get a pic or two, then the phone locks up to the point of having to drop the battery and reboot.
That is very strange, several of us on the team use the camera daily. CK included. None of us have had this issue. Try fixing permissions in recovery. See if that helps. :-)Originally Posted by wolfepakt

I'm pretty new to ROMs, but love Royal Ginger so far...
I do have one significant problem that I haven't been able to solve yet and didn't see a related post on here:
My ringer and notification tones won't sound. I've adjusted every volume and alert setting I've been able to locate and none of them have any effect. The alarm is working and some of the other notifications, but not the ring, text and email notifications. Anyone heard of this issue? Any suggestions?
THANKS!
This is not a typical install of RG 3.0 I highly recommend a complete reinstall of the ROM plz follow the instruction on the OP again. something went wrong with your install plz try again.
