Motorola Photon 4G Custom Bootstrap Recovery (ClockworkMod)

You must have root access to flash the bootstrap ClockworkMod Recovery package created by Tenfar Lin below. This is the same recovery used on the Atrix 4G and the Droid X2.

    [LIST]
    Download CWM Recovery

    • Download Bootstrap APK HERE
    Instructions for CWM Recovery
    Prerequisites
    • Rooted Photon (If not rooted see THIS thread:
    • AC adapter with USB charge cord
    • There is a how to video down below :D

    Installation:
    1. Download the recovery file
    2. Mount your device to USB
    3. Put the .apk on your device
    4. Unplug your device
    5. Navigate to the file explorer, install “Bootstrap_signed.apk”
    6. When the installation completes, run the application
    7. Click “Install Recovery”
    8. Accept the Superuser request
    9. Click “Install Recovery” again for good measure
    10. After success, plug your Photon 4G into the wall adapter
    11. Verify that your phone is charging from the wall
    12. Press “Recovery Mode”
    13. Your device will now slowly reboot into Tenfar’s CWM Recovery
*note: you do need to have your phone plugged in to get into "recovery" mode.

Thanks for the post. Now that I've done my backups , how do I stop the phone from booting into this recovery mode when I turn the phone off when it's plugged in?

The link to CWM Recovery shown in the first post above does not go to the ACS site; instead, it reroutes here:

Both Chrome and Firefox display warnings about viruses when my browser lands at the bandbinnovations.com site. Is this a legitimate re-routing, and is it safe to download and use the bootstrap_signed.apk file found there?

Did you ever get a response to your question? If not, did you find a way to be able to charge the battery with the phone off?

Re: Motorola Photon 4G Custom Bootstrap Recovery (ClockworkMod)

When things go wrong how do you fix it? I have a problem that I have not been able to get answer to the following: Had a problem with that Bootstrap Recovery after installing TWRP. So I thought that I would just delete and reinstall the Bootstrap Recovery which I did.

Unfortunately, after this there were a few messages following the Bootstrap Recovery screen regarding files that exists but can't be mounted. The files are /dev/block/mmcblk0p15 that either can not be mounted; and CASCJE: recovery/log, and can not open CASCHE.

I do not go into TWRP when the Android Recovery is showing............message is Failed to boot 2.

My question is how to correct this or how do I uninstall both TWRP and Bootstrap Recovery so I can start the process from the fresh beginning?

Secondly, how do you get rid of files that are left behind after an Uninstall?

Re: Motorola Photon 4G Custom Bootstrap Recovery (ClockworkMod)

The photon is currently unrooted by following the video. Problem indicated above still is the same. In addition, I am unable to download any updates for apps on my unit. Do not know if this is related or not, but this all began to happen after my problem with the re-install of the Bootstrap Recovery and the error lines that followed as indicated in the above. I did however get into the normal Recovery Mode to wipe Casche

Have not been receiving updates because of this message. Yet I have 13GB available on my SD card and 7GB available internally.

Today, I received from the Market Place for 10 program updates. None loaded. Message was that there was no space. "Error downloading"name of program". There is insufficient space on the device."
Today received the same message for all 10 updates. After unrooting, the apps just do not download, but I do not get any messages at all as an error.
