An Absolutely Stock EG30 Kernel*Pulled from a non-rooted phone.Credit to myself, Ninpo, leatherneck6017, and Pyrostic.
What This Means
Source and GitHubWith a completely stock kernel pulled from a phone that has never been rooted, developers can compile custom kernels that don't use unofficial pieces from international phones, and anybody can restore the stock kernel with Odin. Therefore, there is no risk in rooting your phone anymore.
Since I'm nice and believe in the community being a place to share works and all work towards a common goal, I've taken the time to decompiled the kernel down to the initramfs and upload it for developers on my Github.
How to Flash
DownloadsIf you find yourself wanting to flash the stock EG30 kernel that you can download over at ACS, then you're going to want to become acquainted with Odin.
Once you've come to know (and most likely love) Odin, you can flash the kernel tar by putting it in the PDA slot.
No pit is needed when you are flashing a kernel, and you should always make sure the ONLY thing checked on the left side is auto reboot and NOT repartition.
Once the tar is in PDA and you have double checked that repartition is NOT selected you can go ahead and start the flashing process.
If you've done everything the right way then your phone will boot into the lockscreen and you can go on your way.

The process for flashing the stock kernel is laid out created by qbking77 from ACS.

1st of all thanks again(hit thanks and posted a thank you on pg1 of your XDA thread ;)), and 2ndly, just have a quick question, will flashing this stock kernel remove CWM? TIA!
big thanx for this op, great work.

How did you end up pulling the stock kernel btw? thanks
I had flashed Zedomax v.3 and still had the Yellow Triangle of fear at boot. Strange but i hope to see oc'd kernal without Yellow triangle of fear and great speed and stability with a kick ass rom. I am also hopeful this stock kernel will cure my loss of network and reboot issues as well. Do we have insight as to exact cause of the radio loss issue. I read a post suggesting it was a pushed Samsung update released Fri 9/23, I don't know for sure but i would definitively like to find out. I here Sprint is exchanging units out and some owners have stated the issue does not happen to the new units but because i went through Wirefly my send it in and wait thing sucks big balls covered in famunda cheese. So I'll be content to try the stock kernel for now and hope to see news on both fronts i have pissed about here..Thanks to all the devs and their great work as they are truly gifts from the God Zeus himself.
I posted this at XDA and have gotten a lot of good suggestions but so far no results. I originally rooted with Zedo's v1 then moved to V2 and finally v3 all via odin. Wanting to get the stock kernel and keep root I tried to flash the EB30 kernel that was linked above via odin. Every time I would get the stock splash (no triangle) but still had the custom boot animation from Zedo's kernel which stayed in a look so I never get to the home screens. I then tried to boot into the factory recovery (blue menu) and did a factory reset, but it did not fix the issue. I then flashed back to the Zedo v3 which immediately booted. Thinking I had a bad download I tried re-downloading the EB30 kernel and tried again with the same results. After a few attempts I started getting the boot look when going back to v3, which I was able to get out of by running Zedo's system restore/bootloop fix via CWM. I kept looking for a solution and noticed the kernel linked above changed to EG30 and tried that as well with the same results. I even tried going in on v3 and changing the bootanimation.zip back to the stock one (pulled from another E4GT ) then flashing EG30 which got me a bootloop with the android logo instead of the sprint boot animation or Zedo's custom (honeycomb)animation. Since I don't have CWM with the stock kernel I don't have a way to try running Zedo's system restore/bootloop fix. Someone posted a zip of the EG30 kernel so I went back to v3 then used CW to try the zip which failed with the following message " Clearing cache script aborted (no error message) E:Error in /sdcard/stock_EG30_Kernel.zip. I tried downloading the zip multiple times as well in case it was being corrupted on the dl but no change in the error message and continued to fail. So at this point I'm kind of out of ideas, with the exception that I think if Bubby updates his CW flash to use the stock kernel so I don't get the I9100 splash after loading it I could then run Zedo's system restore/bootloop fix to hopefully get rid of the bootloop. If anyone has anything else I can try I'd really appreciate it.
EDIT: I'm leaving the above info just in case it helps someone else with a similar issue, however I went to Sprint today and swapped the phone out for a new one to get back to stock. One question though. Whats the difference betweeen the EB30 kernel and the EG30 kernel? I noticed the post updated to the EG30 version here but not on the Clockwork kernel although perhaps the updated clockwork kernel is still in development.
Hey all, noob to android and rooting here, so apologize for the probably stupid questions. I've successfully rooted and installed the free wifi. Now that I've done so, if I put the stock kernel back on there, will the free wifi be disabled? I only ask because I'm having the signal loss issue and I may want to return mine for a new unit soon.
Also, how do updates work if your phone is rooted? Will I have to download new versions of the "stock" root that I got on here. I would imagine that's the case, but if I can still get simple over the air updates to android, that would be fantastic. Please help an idiot noob out here.
As far as putting the stock kernel back, no it will not remove the root access so you will still see the superuser app. If you wanted to also remove root there is a method for that as well. On the update question I'm not sure since I'm new to samsung and how they work. On HTC phones you have to wait for a rooted version of the update to be cooked up which usually happened pretty quickly. Keep an eye on the boards over at XDA Developers for info.
