I'm currently on SRF 1.2 w/ ext4 fs, Genocide 2.0 kernel, and CWM 5. Humming along nicely!
On the 'road to GB', I've been watching every qbking77 video I can, and reading forums posts here and at XDA.
The three ROMs I'm considering are:
ACS ICS v5 (released)
Legendary4 (rc1)
SRF 1.3/2.0 (when it's done ...)
Each team's approach seems to have its own 'clientele' ... choice is good!
In making *my* choice, my primary consderations are: rusty-not-necessarily-bleeding edge, de-bloated, good battery & working WiFi/GPS/Bluetooth. Basically, lean, clean and stable.
Is there anywhere a side-by-side functional comparison chart/thread/etc anywhere that might help in choosing between the three?
Or, please share your preferences for projects' approaches and your *whys* behind them.

There's a thread on XDA that has a poll of all GB ROMs for the Epic and users have voting there.
ACS ICS is a nice ROM but not my cup of tea. I have not tried the new version though.
I've been running Legendary Beta 4.0.1 with the Samurai kernel and been getting great results, including battery, GPS, and stability. I came from SRF 1.2 with Genocide 2.0 too (big fan).
I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have to the best of my abilities.
@Pibe38
i'm guessing you mean this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1343332 ? it's helpful ... thx!
after reading that, and some more digging, I think I'm gonna give Legendary a try -- if only because of the _sense_ I get that it's a bit less eye candy. More to my liking ... we'll see, though.
Re: questions --
I've DL'd the latest Legendary ROM to my phone. Using ACS Updater, I'm presented options to "Wipe Cache/Dalvik" (definite yes -- is *ONCE* sufficient? or do I need the 3x ...?), "Backup first" (no, since I already did that manually), and "Wipe Data". Coming from SRF 1.2 with Genocide 2.0, do I *need* to WipeData?
Also, iiuc, Legendary4 comes with the Samurai kernel bundled, right? No separate step? What about the *modem* upgrade from EF05 -> EG22? I've read some do it, others don't -- what was your rexperience in the upgrade -- did you have to do that first?
Thanks!
I gave Legendary a try ... and the update process froze three times in a row :-/
Next, I flashed ACS ICS 5 from an @sdcard .zip using ACS Updater, only exec'ing "Wipe Cache/Dalvik". System booted to recovery, installed, rebooted. Next, installed the EC05 -> EI22 mode update, and rebooted.
Now, I'm at a fully functional ACS ICS v5 system:
Firmware version: 2.3.5
Baseband version: S:D700.0.5S.EI22
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7.nubernel_v0.0.2
Build number: ACS ICS
Seems I lost nothing in the process -- all apps & data are as before the upgrade; no restore from backup required!
I try to wipe data when switching from one ROM to another unless it's just a new version. And even then I do sometimes.
I was on the EC05 modem and flashed a zip available to update to the EI22 modem. However, from what I understand, the modem is independent to the ROM.
I flashed Legendary via CWM with a zip, I did not use the ACS updater and did not have a problem. I read you no longer need to wipe everything 3x but I do anyway.
And yes, the kernel was installed automatically.
Glad to hear you got ACS ICS running and you're enjoying it!
Ive been having the worst luck, odined back to stock ec05 and did the ota update to ei22 gb,which isn't all that bad after rooting and removing all the sprint junk myself, but I went ahead and downloaded all the new roms (legendary,sleeper,starsky,ck'23 e.a.,acs_icsv5.5,cleangb,Urban_Karnage2,and the mostly stock rebuild) but the only ones that I've been able to get up and running is the cleangb and acs_icsv5.1.
Everything else either sticks at the nubernel kernel logo or samsung samsung wireless screen and I've done all the wiping and clearing that can be done,I've reflashed over and over again.
I was told to try the samurai kernel and/or a different kerenl and still no luck so the only thing that I can think of is to redownload the files again and start all over.I always like to try all the roms out myself to help out the noobs with their decisions, but now I'm the one in need of assistance.
So any tips, suggestions,or ideas of what I'm missing or doing wrong or if you've had the same problems and figured out a solution then I would really appreciate all the help I can get,but for now I'm going to start redownloading all the zip files again and just stick with the cleangb untill then.
I'm not at all convinced that there's anything 'wrong'. Rather it's just early, post-EI22-release.
fwiw, *my* odyssey through OneClickRooted Froyo -> SRF1.2 + Clean kernel + ACSRecovery -> ... -> ACS 5.5 + Samurai 1.2.1 + CWM5 seems to have ended up with a stable system, with some cosmetic/functional 'confusion' (on my part, I suspect) that I'm slogging through ...
If stability/working is what you're after, reading 'everywhere' simply seems to indicate that YMMV, for now. Getting to a point where *all* ROMs/upgrad-paths are seamless is just going to take awhile ...
moved on to Marcusant's Revival ROM @ xda ...
