Help Requested with OC and Scripts

    @klquicksall

I have been round and round with trying to figure something out! I am trying to OC my device...and I am not able to have my settings "stick" after a reboot.

I am running a ROM for the Inspire by NRGZ28 on XDA. I was attempting to use killersloth's scripts; I also attempted Sybregunne's andrev_OC. With both, I can set the OC max/min (1612800/203400)...but upon a reboot...I revert back to "default" (1075200/245000); my settings don't stick.

Sybregunne stated "that it is the ROM that prevents execution of scripts". I have pm'd; posted in thread; im'd NRG...to no avail. I then flashed back to RCMix3D Runny v4.0 and tried andrev_OC and killersloth's scripts. Both worked with the RCMix ROM...after reboot!

So back to NRG's ROM. I was thinking it may be the kernel that NRGZ28 used: 2.6.35.14-RCMIX3D-ACS-ACE-NCR-V10-ge213fe7-dirtyken@klquicksall #9...so I just flashed the 'RCMIX_ACS_V11.1_2WCR from your OP here.

I then reinstalled killersloth's scripts; edited the /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpo0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq to 1612800 and the /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpo0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq to 230400 via the 01kstune file in init.d (per wolf's instructions on trying to help me)...rebooted, and no change. So I manually edited scaling_max_freq file to 1612800 and the scaling_min_freq to 230400 located in the /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpo0/cpufreq/ folder...ran cat commands in terminal emulator...and the settings took! For another test, I ran the AnTuTu bench and the result was OC at 1612!

BUT! After rebooting, the max/min freq files reverted back to "default" (1075200/245000).

So I guess my conclusion there is that it is not the Kernel! Would that be correct?

I am at a loss at why my OC settings won't stick after a reboot. I realize this is not your problem! But I was really looking for some guidance on how to get my OC settings to stick on NRG's ROM. Any help w/be appreciated!

And I know...why not just run another ROM? Well, My Inspire is about a month old. I came from running NRG's ROMs on my Tilt2 for over a year; I love his theming.

I did not hear back from you so I was curious what happened with this. Here is another question for you, when you tried to use apps like SetCPU or OC/UV Beater, did you get Superuser permissions set without any problems? The more I read your explanations the more I agree with Sybergunne, and Killer's script should have stuck after a reboot. I messaged KLQ with this thread just to make sure he does not miss it. He is a busy guy. Hopefully he may have some more insight into this and be able to offer some better advice. Good luck with this.

That does sound like the rom. Try some other rom and see if it sticks. Our rom has a ton of scripts and permissions built into it to allow for this.

Yes...got super user permissions and had no problems setting speeds in OC/UV Beater; had no problems setting speeds in OC Daemon using andrev_OC. Both would "stick" until I rebooted. Once rebooted, I would have to go back to the app and re-initiate my settings. :(

With killlersloth's scripts (installed zip through recovery), I was not able to get anything to "stick" just by this edit:

    • Go to: /etc/init.d
    • Edit the file:01kstune for these lines...
      • /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpo0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq: set to 1612800
      • /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpo0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq: set to 230400
    • Saved file and exited ES File explorer...speed settings did not take...so I rebooted
    • After reboot, checked 01kstune file, and my changes were still there.
    • went to terminal emulator and ran cat commands checking max, min, cur freq; results were "default" (1075/249)
    SO...I did this:

    • Since editing the 01kstune did not edit my OC speeds, I did this:
      • Went directly to /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpo0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq and manually set to 1612800
      • Went directly to /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpo0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq and manually set to 230400
      • Upon doing this, my OC speeds took! But after a reboot, the reverted back to default.
I would like to mention that I do not have any problems setting and keeping-on-reboot my OC settings with SetCPU.

I'm just baffled! Don't know enough about any of this to know why my scripts aren't running.

Yes...I did try RCMix Runny 3D v4.0...had NO problems at all! But as I said in OP...I really like NRG ROMs. I was just wondering if there was a way to "allow" scripts easily in the ROM I was running (NRG's)?

On another note...I do have a question. As I said in OP, my ROM came with 2.6.35.14-RCMIX3D-ACS-ACE-NCR-V10-ge213fe7-dirtyken@klquicksall #9.

Will I see any benefit by installing your 'RCMIX_ACS_V11.1_2WCR' kernel since my permissions appear to be locked down???

Well what I mean about permissions is its built into the rom to allow settings to stick and use scripts like killersloths. Its more than just super user. Try using the boot.img from Rcmix. Make a back up incase of bootloop

hi wmg316. well like I said it is a ROM issue. and there is not a whole lot I can do about it. I have developed this app using klquicksall's kernel have done so from version 1. I would have to suggest for you to use a different ROM if you really need this feature. :D
