[ACS] Root For the Samsung Illusion - Proclaim

I rooted successfully (according to root checker, but SU checker says SU declined). When I try and uninstall programs using titanium backup it keeps asking me for SU permissions, about 8 times and then locks up the phone.
I have reinstalled SU a couple of times with the same effect.
Any suggestions?

BTW. I use an FTP wifi transfer program to put stuff on my SD card. It is a lot easier than fiddling with the card itself and it gets around the locked card issue.

seaspider, Titanium Bachup has a button that asks if you want to update Superuser, maybe a new version of Superuser will help. Also, in Superuser settings you can allow automatic Superuser authority. That speeds up the backup and restore process.

Im new to Android...ive been on iOS forever. But anyways I just flash the rooted kernel to the Proclaim then the Stock Kernel? And then ill have working cell service? Thats what im worried about

Travis, I have performed Shabbypenguin's root process and have not had any coverage issues. The phone works as brand new. I have a Proclaim with Straight Talk. The only issue so far is that I can't transfer files from my PC using the USB cable. Apparently, my phone now shows up in windows explorer as two drives. One drive is labeled "CD Drive" the other is labeled "Disk Drive", each using the next sequential drive letters available. The CD drive shows the SD Card contents, but it is "write protected". The disc drive has no contents and asks the user to insert a disk. People that have this issue have, most likely, found other ways to transfer data from their PC to the SD Card. There are a number of file managers out there on Google Play, I use Androxplorer. I am still looking for a workaround to use the USB connection.

I am very new to all this but I successfully rooted my phone but now I am getting the message"unable to charge non supported battery see user manual".I do have an aftermarket extended battery but now I can't charge it.Can anyone help me with this?Thanks!

whats up fellow rooted proclaim users. i just joined because this seems to be the only forum that has a lot of feedback on this device. i know theres not any roms for this phone yet, but i was curious if any of the illusion roms might work and if anyone has tried. i was thinking of trying it but i wanted some feedback first so i dont end up with a paper weight. any help is appreciated. thanks.

This is my first experience with a smart phone, and if anyone could post some of the things that could safely be disabled/ or frozen to and free up disk and RAM i would be greatly appreciative

I have purchased the ROM ToolBox Pro, not messed with it much, but saw the google apps under the ROM list, and notice the files like {{ 20120304 ICS }} I am assuming this is an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich? if so will the proclaim run that ?

Again excuse my smart phone ignorance, any help appreciated, thrilled with the phone, and looking to get the most out of it.

Hi guys new here. I just rooted my proclaim and used the androidarea51 files. I think they all started here. I need help and thought I would try asking. I rooted my phone with odin as directed and the phone shows rooted but none of the apps that require root will work. Superuser does not show any apps, TB Pro says the phone needs to be rooted for it to run, busyboxinstaller will not install.
Phone seems to work except for a few issues like wifi scanning all the time even when connected to the network.

I get the nice android screen on boot and get the yellow triangle so I thought I was rooted. I do have the cd sd card issue like many so I tried Android Commander and that worked for file transfer and that shows rooted ok. I was told to delete the busybox file and reinstall to get it working but I cant delete the file it no matter what I try. The superuser app shows red -rw -rw -rw and a green su file directory.

I went and reflashed a second time but it has not made a difference.

I was hoping you guys with much more skills with this could offer a suggestion.

I do not see much activity anywhere for this phone anymore and I am getting nervous I will never get this thing fixed.

Please help if anyone can.

I had the same issues- I dont think the area51 root works- as you say you cant install busybox and without that it is not rooted. THe good news is that Shabby penguin's root does work, even after the area51 root has failed.

Thanks seaspyder for the post. I am really confused. Many on area51 say their root is great and many say it does not work. I see a few here have had issues with the root here too.
How do I go back to pre root kernel if I try another flash and screw my phone up? I will try shabby penguins root because at this point I have not had any input from anyone else.
